WAY TO GO SDC YOUTH May 28, 2005
CORNWALL: SDC was well represented at the Ontario PC Youth (OPCYA) Convention in London last weekend. Of the 17 candidates running for election to the Executive, three were our own from SDC—Shane Barnes, Joanna Franklin, and JJ Hollister. Shane Barnes, SDC Youth Social Director, ran for Communications Director on Team Leslie and was elected. Shane, who has experience in this field and designed the OPCYA website, will be a fantastic Communications Director. He is also the first SDC Youth elected to the OPCYA Executive! Joanna Franklin, SDC Youth President, ran for Secretary/Treasurer on James Murphy’s Tories For Tory team. Though not elected, new OPCYA President Leslie Morrison appointed her Director on the Executive. Leslie congratulated Joanna on her campaign and is promoting unity between the teams. Joanna looks forward to working with the new Executive. JJ Hollister, former SDC Youth President, ran for Fundraising Director on James Murphy’s Tories For Tory team. Among his many talents, JJ has experience fundraising for community charities and organized KidsVote 2003 in his school. He begins his third year of an honours history degree at the University of Ottawa in September. These three candidates displayed discipline, determination, and hard work throughout the campaign. We’re proud of you, guys; keep it up!
