Youth Members at CPC Convention in Montreal
March 18, 2005

Joanna Franklin and James Murphy

MONTREAL: On 18 March 2005, Joanna Franklin joined James Murphy, candidate for OPCYA President, in Montreal during the CPC Convention. Along with Andrew Miller and John Amor (fellow candidates on James' team), Joanna dropped by various hospitality suites and mingled with delegates.

Promoting "Yes To Youth" was a priority. The Conservative Party of Canada convention was the most attended in Canadian history. With 4,000 attendees (including 3,000 delegates), the Tories easily beat the Liberal's boast.

Delegates were excited and enthused at this first Convention of the CPC. A positive atmosphere energized the centre.

Hightlights of the Conveniton included:

  • CPC Leader Stephen Harper receiving a resounding 84% approval rating
  • "Yes To Youth" narrowly loosing acceptance
  • A definite focus on cooperation and accepting wider views

Joanna was excited to be there as she has been active on the federal scene as well. For the last two years, she worked closely with her riding association as secretary.
