Duncan launches "New Ideas, New Energy" Campaign

Eric Duncan

April 8, 2006

South Mountain: Eric Duncan, the first candidate to file papers for Councillor in the 2006 Municipal election, met with the local media on Thursday, April 6th in the North Dundas Council Chambers to announce that he is declaring himself as a candidate for the position.

"As many people know, I have a passion for this community," said Duncan. "I want to make a career in politics helping people and building our future. Serving as a Councillor for North Dundas is a great start to prove myself, gain some valuable experience, and make a difference."

Duncan also explained the platform in which he will be running his campaign. His five point plan entitled "North Dundas' Plan for the Future", includes:

      An opposition to user fees
      Long-term budgets
More aggressive approach to attracting business
      Stronger emphasis on "buying local"
      Improved sidewalk snow removal

"Over the past couple of weeks, I have met with numerous people to seek advice and to create my platform. The response has been absolutely incredible. People have been supportive; they want new blood and new ideas and that's what I will give."

Eric is currently a student at Carleton University where he is finishing his first year in Political Science. When asked about balancing his school and public service, he stated, "I have met with Township officials and professors at Carleton University who have said that they are confident that I can work at both. It would be a busy schedule, but I work best when I am busy."

"I will be working hard everyday until this November, knocking on doors and meeting with community organizations to see what I can do to help them. I can't wait to get started" Duncan will be finalizing his campaign team in the coming weeks after he finishes his spring exams.
