The Stormont, Dundas & Charlottenburgh Riding Association of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario are busy these days putting the final touches on their annual golf tournament which is slated for Summerheights Golf Links on August 27th, 2005. Riding President Glen Grant announced today that the tournament will be re-named to the Noble Villeneuve Classic in honour of the long-serving MPP for our riding.
"The tournament will be a fitting tribute to recognize all the great work that Noble did for our riding," said Grant. "Our Riding Association is very proud of all of Noble's accomplishments and are absolutely thrilled with the new name for our tournament."
The organizing committee is chaired by Chris Savard, and is aided by Glen Grant, Guy Lauzon MP, Todd Fetterly and Dick Aubry. The event will feature a gourmet dinner, as well as a prize table and a silent auction.
Savard says the cost is $85 per person for the round of golf with cart and the special dinner, and those who prefer not to golf are welcome to attend the dinner for $30. Golfers will compete for awards such as closest to the pin, closest to the Blue Bird mannequin, longest drive and the like.
Savard says participants may register on line at www.sdcpcriding.ca/golf.html . Golfers in ones or twos are welcome and will be paired up to create foursomes. He may also be contacted at chris@chrissavard.ca or by phoning 933-8973.
The event is a fundraiser for the local Ontario PC Party riding association for Stormont-Dundas-Charlottenburgh and volunteers are needed to help with the day's activities.
